Mischief (Day 248 KEDfaY)

The Boyfriend was getting ready for work this morning as I was laying, half awake, in bed, scrolling through Twitter for any important tweets or funny jokes. The Boyfriend turned around after leaving the bedroom and peeked his head in and said, "I'll just leave your knitting where I found it."

[We've been keeping the cats separate at night during the week because, sometimes, not all of the time, they will decide, usually around 5:30 am, that they hate each other and need to fight over territory, much like West Side Story but with less dance numbers and more screaming. So we keep Buddy, the more relaxed cat, out in the rest of the apartment while Pebble stays in the bedroom with us.]

At some point in the middle of the night, Buddy took not one, but two of the scrap blankets I'm working on, and dragged them into the next room. I don't really know why he did this. It didn't seem like he was trying to hurt them or get payback for us kicking him out of the bed room. I like to think that he did it because he was trying to make a comfy bed even though the two strips that I call blankets that really aren't yet weren't too close to each other. 

Or, and this theory is break-your-heart sad and endearing, he was trying to bring them to me so that I would open the door and pay attention to him. I know. It breaks my heart too. 

But seeing as he is currently sleeping on the bed in the bedroom across the apartment and hasn't wanted to deal with me at all really, in the nonchalant way that cats are, not in the purposefully ignoring me way, I'm assuming he was just being mischievous and rotten. 

No damage was done to either blanket, both of which are crochet and not knitting. The Boyfriend cannot tell the difference though.

On the knitting front, I did the usual two rows for my mystery washcloth, which is tons of fun. I quite enjoy working on it and having no idea what it'll be. I also finished one sock and started fixing the other one. I need to start another washcloth for HPKCHC but that one is just going to be a plain, boring one. 

I also have been spinning. I am working on some yarn for my aunt and it's going well although one of the cats decided the fiber needed to be played with. It was rolled into a nice neat little ball and then in the five seconds I had my back turned, one of the cats had taken that neat little ball and made it a fluffy, disorganized mess. I told the Boyfriend about this fluffy mystery and he tried to pawn it off on Buddy because he's more of a kitten and libel to do things like that butI didn't know which one until I went back to my spinning and caught the culprit right in the act, as I was pulling from the fibery mess. I should've known it was Pebble. She's done this once before, just not when I was actually using the fiber. The fiber is now sitting in a bag and hopefully she'll leave it alone. I hope to have all of the singles done by Wednesday and plying done by this weekend. I hope. 

That's the plan at least.

Achoo (Day 238 KEDfaY)

Well, I took Buddy to the vet today. The good news is that he's gained weight since we got him and since he is a big cat, just a huge framed cat, and he was underweight when we got him, that was really good news.

The bad news is he has allergies, which since this could've been a lot worse, I'll take it.

The fun part now is to try to figure out what he's allergic to. Could be his food, could be the pollen in the air (which there is so much of that it is caking everything outside) or it could be fleas. Since we haven't seen any fleas on him or Pebble or in our apartment, we're thinking it's a food allergy or the pollen.

I am very glad that I could help him and I'm even happier that the vet could help him. She gave him two shots, a steroid for the allergies and an antibiotic from the secondary infection from him over-grooming himself. He was so well behaved. But now the fun begins, trying to figure out what is causing all of his bald spots.

As for knitting, I officially have started the second half of a very late Christmas present. I hope to get it done next month and turn it in for detention for HPKCHC and then off to the mail.

Helpless (Day 237 KEDfaY)

I felt so great today actually accomplishing things. I got so much laundry done and the kitchen cleaned and swept all of the hard floors and got rid of some old clothes.

And then at the end of the day I feel like a crappy person because there is something wrong with my kitty. He has weird bald spots that he keeps licking to the point of them oozing. I'm hoping to take him to the vet tomorrow but I just feel like crap because he's uncomfortable and I can't do anything to fix it.

He does seem to be enjoying pushing things off of my desk though.

Poor Planning (Day 186 KEDfaY)

I don't have a picture for today, not because I didn't knit, because I definitely did. No, because my phone is dead and that's how I get pictures to this cosy little blog.

Knitting accomplishments today:
Finished the ribbing on my vest! WHOO!
Figured out the lace pattern for that blanket I was working on! Also WHOO!

I also finished spinning the singles for that little bump of fiber I was spinning. I hope to ply it tomorrow although it might wait until Thursday.

Tonight my only goal is to actually get some sleep.

The past few nights, one or both of the cats has woken me up in the middle of the night. Interrupted sleep isn't good, especially not for numerous nights in a row. I also hope that one day, these two cats will get along. Hey, a girl can dream, right?

Monotony (Day 185 KEDfaY)

I knit a lot today. A whole lot. I worked out and showered and did chores and all that stuff today too but on top of all of that, I also knit.

And guess what?

You can't really tell.

I always feel like ribbing, especially for bottom up sweaters, goes slower than anything else in the world. Put it on size 3 needles in fingering weight yarn and at 274 stitches and it's going to take FOREVER just for a row.

So while I knit today, I didn't really get anything done. Sure, I got quite a few rows done but my overall progress is still minimal.

I also spun a bit today. I have some mystery fiber from a destash that I've been working on. I'm guessing that it's about an ounce of fiber so it's not a whole lot but it will probably be enough for a square that I'm totally not planning on knitting right now. (What? It's actually cold outside. This is what I do. I get cold, I get the urge to knit all the blankets. All of them. ALL OF THEM.)

So that's where I'm at. While I've done a lot, you can't really tell, hence no picture because it would probably look a lot like the one yesterday.

And the cats still hate each other.

WOAAAAH WE'RE HALFWAY THEEEERRRE! (Day 182 KEDfaY)

WOOO! I've made it halfway! And this just so happens to be my 200th total post for the blog! EVERYTHING IS SO EXCITING TODAY!

Right now, I'd just like to thank everyone who reads or stops by or casually glances at my blog. I don't really do this for you but it makes me feel all warm and fuzzy to see my page view numbers slowly go up. I'm fine with talking to myself but it's nice to have someone to talk at as well.

Today for knitting, I knit a bunny nugget. It was SUPER quick and fast and easy and the new kitty, William, loves it. That might have something to do with the catnip in it but he loves it nonetheless. I want to make another one for Pebble cat because I know what it's like to have a sibling get something and you not get anything and I know she's a cat but I figure that she'll enjoy batting it around as well.

Adventures in Cats (Day 181 KEDfaY)

When we were given William, everyone involved expected him to be the one to go along with the new living arrangements. That he would jump right in and make himself at home and even try to get along with the co-kitty-habitant. 

Not so much.

Today he slipped out of the bedroom while the Boyfriend was going in or out or something and walked right up to Pebble and started a fight. Now, Pebble can hold her own. She's one tough cookie and I will attest to her skills. I have been on the receiving end of her claws one too many times. And yet, she wasn't the one to start the fight. William, tame, sweet William, picked the fight. Luckily, Boyfriend was quick with the broom and broke them up quicker than I could run into the next room to see what had happened. 

Just goes to show that not everyone acts the same way all of the time. 

New Years Day (Day 180 KEDfaY)

I recently went through a journal I was keeping last year. I was going through a bout of depression and was trying to write through it and turns out that writing everyday about how much your life sucks doesn't really help you get out of the depression fog. Oh well, you live and learn.

But, aside from a bunch of pages with bad doodles and ramblings about how much I was depressed all the time, I found my new years resolutions for 2013.

• Drink a glass of water every morning
• Exercise more even if it's just a few pushups while something is cooking
• Read more. Try to average a book a week
• Knit more, especially for charity
• Be on the computer less
• Write more

Underneath that list, three months later was the next, very short entry.

"Welp failed at that..."

I didn't really though. I do drink a glass of water every morning, one of the few habits that I've actually stuck with and have kept doing all year. And for those loyal readers of my blog, I think we can all agree that I have knit more and while I haven't necessarily knit more for charity, I have knit a lot more for other people which is something that I didn't really do before. This past Christmas is the first in a VERY long time where I have actually had a present for everyone. I even had two for my mom. And while exercising at large didn't happen, I do try to get a few pushups in when waiting on the microwave or do a plank for a minute or so every few days. 

But reading more hasn't happened. I was on pace for a while but then I got distracted by the internet and decided that I would rather play Candy Crush than try to muddle through a book. I did read two chapters of Game of Thrones last night and I didn't even fall asleep. I'm pretty happy with that. And yesterday morning I started to work out again. I've started one of the many iterations of the "Couch to 5K" program in hopes that I will actually stick with it. I've run two days in a row now which might be a record for me. I've found that I don't have a reason to work out since I don't want to lose weight and just going and elipticalling away for 45 minutes or so isn't really that exciting. But if I have a goal then maybe, just maybe, I will stick with it. I've stuck with this goofy blog since I have a goal for it. So I guess my key to success is just having a goal and then trying to reach for it, something that I'm sure much of the population has already discovered but I've never been that quick to get things.

So here it goes, yet another year of resolutions that I might give up after a while:

• Continue drinking a glass of water every morning
• Knit more, especially for others
• Read more
• Write more
• Exercise more and follow through with the Couch to 5K program
• Be on the computer less
• Be less of an all around lazy bum

We also adopted a new cat. A lovely lady in my knitting group helps run a cat rescue and when the Boyfriend and I decided that we wanted a second cat to keep our current cat, Pebble, occupied, she mentioned that she had just found an abandoned cat that would be perfect. And so far he's been fantastic. He's already 10x cuddlier than Pebble and nicer too. Now let's just hope that him and Pebble will get along. Time will tell on that one though. Pebble is....prickly so it could be a challenge. 

Kinda sick-ish (Day 112 KEDfaY)

She is really bad at hiding. 

Ugh.

That's how I feel. I have a weird sick thing happening that I really don't want to talk about because it's kinda embarrassing and I'm not over how embarrassing it is yet. Once I get over it, I'll share but for right now I'm just going to remain sick. Trust me, I have a rough draft of an essay all about it already written, I'm just not ready to share with anyone yet. I can be private sometimes. No, really! I can!

I've worked on the test knit. It's slow going, which is something that Lee Meredith said when she sent out the test knit but it's slower than I expected. I consider myself an incredibly fast knitter (only because I've been told by lots of people that I knit quickly) so when I say it's slow going, it's slow going. I am enjoying it, I just don't feel like I'm getting anything done on it. It doesn't help that I had to restart. It is looking better now though and I'm 2/3 of the way done now, I just have to finish it up so I can get the rest of the stuff I need done. I go months and months without needing to do anything and then all of a sudden, 4 different things need to be done within a week of each other. Buh.

And I'm sick on top of it. Sorta. Again, more on that later.

Deadlines (Day 109 KEDfaY)

If she fits, she sits even if there is a bigger box that she fits in better just over there. 

Today, the yarn I ordered for a hat that I'm making for a commission FINALLY arrived. I ordered it last Monday and it just got here today. I guess I'm spoiled to really fast shipping but seriously. I hope to get that done and mailed out by this weekend but I have a few other deadlines I have to deal with first. The halfway point on SSP#1 is due on the 31st to get points for HPKCHC. The test knit I'm doing for Lee Meredith is due Saturday. My sweater needs to be done by the 1st ish so I can submit it for a local fair. I don't expect it to win but it would be nice to have a hand knit of mine recognized for its awesomeness. Supa sekrit project #1 is going much better now. A technique that Lee Meredith explains in the pattern I'm test knitting is actually coming in SUPER handy for SSP#1. I am very thankful for that. SSP#1 is also looking better and I think/hope I won't have to rip back again. *fingers crossed*

The good thing is that it's going pretty quickly. The bad thing is there's still a lot to go to meet the halfway point. 

The hat that I was commissioned for though should be quick, only a couple of hours. It's a simple hat but a darn cunning one, nonetheless. Now to just figure out how to get everything done on time!

SHHHH! (Day 106 KEDfaY)

No picture today. It's much too dark to try to get a cell phone pic and the cat has disappeared. I think she's moved onto the next stage of her attempt of murdering me. She's started being friendly towards me and has gone so far as to cuddle with me earlier today while I was reading. Obviously it's an evil plot.

Knitting today has all been supa sekrit knitting. I'm test knitting something for Lee Meredith which I have been sworn to secrecy about. I'll show you of course once I'm done with it but for now you just have to trust me that it's awesome and fun and I love it.

But for now it's bed time. Just wanted to pop in and do the post real quick. It would've been a no dialogue post if I had gotten a picture earlier today but I didn't because I forgot. *shrug* Oh well!

Supa sekrit (Day 105 KEDfaY)

She's got no legs! (Jkjkjk she does)

I finished two more parts of the 2nd supa sekrit project. The best part is that I'm not saying how many parts there are (there are four hundred ninety seven parts). 

I haven't picked up the first supa sekrit project again. It is now at a place of intimidation and frustration which is better than yesterday when I was just frustrated. It's an improvement I guess. I'm hoping by Saturday or Sunday I'll be willing to deal with it again. 

WHOO! (Day 100 KEDfaY)

She looks perturbed because the Boyfriend just played Lion King with her (where you hold her up and try to sing the Circle of Life. She wasn't happy.)

Whoo! 100 days! And only once did I completely mess up and skip a day! Whoo!
Today not a lot of knitting happened. I had to rip out a big section on the supa sekrit project because I didn't like how it was looking and I need to redo it. I knit probably two stitches today before I ripped it all out. It's now sitting in timeout because I'm frustrated with it. I needed to do it so that it would look nice and how I want it to but I'm still frustrated with it.

I feel like I should have something with more substance today but I just don't know what to say. Maybe tomorrow I'll have an opinion about something.

I just...whut? (Day 99 KEDfay)

Walked by the bathroom to find this. I don't understand her. 

I finished my washcloth today and I'd show it except it's boring and a picture of a cat looking guilty for drinking out of the toilet is infinitely more entertaining.

I also knit some on my owl sweater. It's coming along nicely even though I only knit 5 rows, I think.

I plied my yarn. I attempted a 4 ply with two 2 plied yarns and it turned into a failed 4 ply. I don't care, it's gonna become a hat I think and an adorable one at that. 

Also was told that a job that I was perfect for and recommended to apply to was already filled so that was awesome. 

I had something insightful to say earlier today but the more I thought about it the more I realized I would probably just piss people off if I wrote it and I'm just not in that kind of mood right now. Maybe later when I care less about people. 

Money money money....Moneyyy (Day 93 KEDfaY)

She got a new box. She is happy because it didn't instantly rip as soon as she sat in it.

Lots of knitting on the supa sekrit project today. I'm now only mildly anxious about the tiny possibility of running out of yarn but I think everything is going to be okay with it. 

If you are a regular reader (hi all four of you!) you might've noticed that there are now ads on my blog. The reason why I did this was because you might've noticed that I am still without a job (hence the reason why I can take so many pictures of the cat. Seriously, I've got tons of them on my phone right now. I've got enough that a crazy cat lady would say I have a problem). I know that I'm not going to make enough to pay a student loan payment with the money I make from ads but it will be more than I'm making now even if that isn't saying much. So, please bear with me. If you spy an ad that is offensive to you in some way, please screencap it and email me. It takes a lot to offend me but when I'm visiting blogs or webcomics, the last thing I want is an ad shouting at me about how I needs ta go ta church or what have you. I want my blog to be entertaining. (You might notice I try really hard at that.)

Less awkward (Day 92 KEDfaY)

This was the only picture I took that she wasn't moving in. 

Today was an Organize Yarn day but I did get some knitting done. I got approximately 1 hour and 50 minutes knit on the supa sekrit project. I'm ready to do the next big part that is complicated. So yeah. I plan to work on it all weekend in hopes that it goes well and I get a lot done. 

But that's all I've got for today. Today is far less exciting or awkward than yesterday was, that's for sure.

LOOK PRETTY (Day 85 KEDfaY)

She's very confused as to why I was taking a picture and didn't respond to me shouting, "LOOK PRETTY" at her. She never responds to me though so I don't know what I was expecting.

Worked more on the supa sekrit project and I am even writing the blog post about it earlier than normal. A friend is visiting this weekend so it might be more posts of just pictures with titles that I think are witty but most people probably won't notice. I like to think I'm a lot wittier than I am. You know how that goes.

I haven't done much other knitting today. The supa sekrit project is VERY slow going. I worked on it for an hour today and the progress is very minimal. I've said numerous times I can't count and the lack of this skill is definitely messing with me on this project. I knew that this project would be a challenge but it's being more of a challenge than I expected. I'm hoping once I get past this part though, it will be easier going. Hopefully.

What would you do? (Day 81 KEDfaY)

My brother and I were talking today about what we would do if we were mugged. If you know either of us, you know that this is probably a completely normal conversation. I said that I would give the mugger everything I had and then explained to them what I was carrying.

• My cellphone which is over 2 years old and that I got for free. It's on it's last legs and the Boyfriend actually got me a new battery for it since it wouldn't stay charged for more than 5 hours which is a bit useless if you have a cellphone. 
• My debit card. If you took the total I have in both my checking and savings, I have less than $15. 
• My wallet that if you totaled up all of the change, you will be lucky to get a dollar. I don't have enough for a cup of plain coffee, that's what I know.

The mugger would also get an assortment of old concert tickets and movie stubs and probably receipts. There are an assortment of gift cards that might be worth more than everything else I am carrying...If you added them all up...and they were all for the same store...

Most of the stuff in my wallet I would be okay with losing if someone decided they needed my ticket stub from a Decemberists concert in 2009. Sure, it would suck to lose those sentimental things like movie tickets from one of my first dates with my Boyfriend (I have lost the ticket from our first date which was Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince. We then went to Steak and Shake for food and then spent a few hours just driving around. It was the best first date I've ever been on.). Or the concert ticket and movie stub from my brother's birthday the year we saw Jason Mraz then drove across town just in time to see the midnight premier of Harry Potter. I have a picture of my friend Chad in his military dress uniform that I would be sad to lose. And my Boyfriend's student ID from middle school, before he hit his growth spurt and when he was still roly poly which if you met him now, you would never believe he used to be chubby. I have the card I carry around to prove that I am a card carrying geek. (My hard plastic RPGA Master Gamemaster card from 2005.)

After going through my wallet, I actually think my wallet is worth more than everything in it and I got it at Target for $12 two years ago. If a mugger took everything I was carrying, he'd be left with a handful of old tickets and mostly used gift cards and a random knitting project. My purse isn't even worth much. 

My brother agreed and said he'd just hand over what he was carrying which would probably be some ibuprofen and Tic Tacs among other things. Neither of us have ever been mugged or really lived in an area where we might be mugged but it is something that both of us have and will think about. It's one of those, "What WOULD I do in that situation?" self questions that I think everyone should ask themselves once in a while.

I also knit today. I got about an hour worth of knitting done earlier before showering and doing laundry and such. I honestly think I'd be much further if I didn't keep messing up one part which is so frustrating. I plan to work on it more tonight and hopefully be more productive on the supa sekrit project.
